Why it’s so hard to write?
Oh, I so want to write but it’s so hard!
What makes writing so hard?
I think we can all blame it on the lack of time to write, especially when one’s an entrepreneur but I think the reason is something else: it’s the lack of coherence in one’s thoughts or in other words, lack of structured thought on a given topic. We get so many ideas that we want to write about and we also have a lot of “content” in our heads based on our experiences (ideally, making us an expert of that content) and yet we don’t really know how best to structure it — not while writing but while thinking.
Remember, language is a thinking tool before it’s used as a communication tool. I didn’t realize this simple fact for the longest time.
So I have concluded that not being able to write is more of not being able to think well.
It’s sad, isn’t it?
Of course it is but it can be fixed and I am determined to do just that. This post is a part of my solution which is, to focus, think and translate into words strung together into sentences that make (at least some) sense. In fact, I am taking a course on Grammar offered by Leonard Peikoff of the ARI. It’s a course about the philosophy of language rather than a course on simply the rules of grammar. It starts with the axiom that a sentence is a complete thought, followed by all the great (and hard) stuff of grammar :)
